When Dr. Bracanovich opened her Ottawa dental clinic more than 20 years ago, her goal was to have an inclusive practice with the appropriate services available for anyone who walked through the clinic’s doors on Sparks Street.

Our goal is to be your first choice Ottawa dental clinic for the whole family, a goal we work towards each day by providing exceptional customer service to every patient who joins us.

Dr. Bracanovich Answers your questions:

Question

Why did you want to become a dentist?

Answer

I wanted to make a difference by providing gentle dental care and ease the anxiety and phobia that many patients do experience. With my own experience of having a fear of dentists and being uneasy while in the dental chair growing up I was convinced there must be a different approach in dentistry to make one’s visit more comfortable and memorable.

Question

What inspired you to open your own practice?

Answer

I had a dream of owning my own dental practice where I would be in charge of making decisions and creating a space that would  have a non dental feel to it. With that in mind I implemented a boutique style décor that would appeal to those visiting the office.  Keeping up with new technologies and advancements also permitted continued growth of the practice along with a team that shared the same drive and focus in learning and growing which in turn allowed us to build a family like environment.

Question

What keeps you excited about practicing dentistry?

Answer

I love providing a service to my clients (patients) delivering dental care and clinical therapy with 20+ years of experience and a hunger for new technologies while working with a great team that makes my work so much more enjoyable day after day

Question

What's the toughest part about being a dentist?

Answer

The toughest part of being a dentist is running a small business in today’s time with constant
bureaucratic regulations.

Question

What's the best part about being a dentist?

Answer

The best part of being a dentist is delivering beautiful healthy smiles which make our clients happy. When you see patients that have suffered for a long time with dental issues it often times brings on social anxiety and unhappiness, in turn it is uplifting to see them transform into a confident person who is proud of their smile. That’s what makes me happy.

Question

What's the best part about your dental team?

Answer

The best part of my dental team is that they have the same philosophy/vision while providing compassionate and empathetic care allowing them to deliver excellent service to our patients. They are eager to learn and implement their knowledge in every day practice. They are respectful, professional and help each other to be the best they can be. They come with different personalities, strengths and walks of life all of which makes us as I call them “The Dream Team”

Question

What is one of the highlights of your career?

Answer

23 years ago as a young and inexperienced person, I started up my own practice as a new immigrant to the country and to the profession. Following my dreams and turning them into a reality with hard work and perseverance bringing me to where I am today.

Question

What are you most proud of about the clinic?

Answer

Having a successful, Canadian owned business for 20+ years and delivering excellent dental service with an amazing team.

Question

How do you help people who are afraid of going to the dentist?

Answer

By relaxing them, distracting them and building trust (patients always tell me “I trust you are not going to hurt me”). I always strive to ensure that they have a pleasant experience while providing gentle dental care.

Question

Do your children want to follow in your footsteps?

Answer

My eldest daughter, Mia, is passionate about dentistry. She has been working at the dental clinic while studying at the University of Ottawa and volunteering in her spare time at the Ottawa Mission Dental Clinic helping to provide care to those in need. She has now finished her undergrad and is on her way to dental school in the fall of 2020.

Question

What's in the future for Sparks Dental Clinic? Goals?

Answer

The future is to continue running a successful practice and having Mia joining in and living forth my dream and visions for Sparks Dental Clinic.
